Malia Burkhart is known as a multidisciplinary performing and teaching artist.  She dances with her feet in music, Butoh dance, Improvisational movement and storytelling, puppetry, stiltwalking, parades, and pageants.  Malia has recently expanded her career into the healing arts, through training in herbal medicine and training as a Global Somatics Practitioner.  

Upcoming Shows and Projects: In May 2011, Malia will graduate from the Green River Dance "Global Somatics TM" Practitioner Training Program.  As part of her final project, Malia will present her work in embodied music as part of a full-evening performance of her original songs.  Date: mid-March, 2011.  Details TBA.

Artist Residencies  Malia can come to your school to create a one-of-a-kind puppetry experience!  Special grants are available through the State Arts Board, for schools to host a residency!  She is on the State Arts Board Roster of teaching artists, as well as the teaching artist rosters for COMPAS, In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theater, and the East Side Arts Council.
